A message from pirateaba

I’m a greedy person. I have an ego, and I’ve always had to war with it and understand how much I have to learn and accomplish. Sometimes, I have a big head, and I try to be a better person as pirateaba because I should be. But that also goes along with insecurity and shyness. I don’t like self-promotion. I don’t like asking for help. I understand these things about myself even if I’m not good about using that knowledge, because if I understand that is what ego is, it makes the world make sense to me. Confidence is an easy thing to project online, and while I believe true, genuine ease of the soul can exist, I don’t think many people have that.

This is my intro. I shall now present the big reveal in a straightforwards manner because I’m embarrassed:

I’d like to hit the New York Times’ Bestsellers list.

I have objections to the list. I don’t think it counts a lot of stories (including web serials), and in that sense, it is biased and puts a lot of power in this legacy institution. With that said…it has a lot of weight for regular readers. It is a prestigious award, and as I said, a part of me craves validation even if I shouldn’t need or desire it.

I’d like it because it’s a cool thing to say. It’s an easy way to establish credibility, and it would help future business things. I’d like it because it would validate TWI being a success. And I think it’d make my grandfather happy to hear. My family would be proud of that, not that they’re not already, but it’d be a thing.

So, I’m instituting a campaign I wanted to do when the physical books were still just a Kickstarter idea. An Inncentives Campaign. On this page, you will see a tracking bar and a bunch of goals to hit if we reach certain—why am I explaining how Kickstarters work? I want to hit the high goals, and I’m offering things I want to create, even if some of them are CRAZY.

Like a book. The point of doing an incentives campaign is offering things you want, if we can push for it. And some of the numbers to hit are ambitious. However, I’d like to try to reach them. A lot of readers have already been very supportive, and I think this also lets them be rewarded for that, which I like. So, I guess, that’s what this is. An attempt to hit a metrics-based goal because I think it means something.

It’s just an award/title, in a very capitalism-themed culture, but I still think it’s valuable, and I’d like for people who don’t know anything about The Wandering Inn to believe it means something based on that. Because they might read it. Or at least, respect it a teensy amount as much as you all do. Let’s see if we can do it. I’m pushing things, which is good sometimes. Thanks, and let me know what you think. We can always add more incentives if we hit the goals or people want something else. Fingers crossed,

–pirateaba

FAQs

How does this work?

Fans who have pre-ordered a paperback edition of The Wandering Inn: Book One, Part One and wish to participate must submit their claim with proof before August 10th 2026 to generate XP for the campaign to unlock rewards for both themselves and the community. Everyone levels together!

To participate, complete the claim form including an upload of a legible photo, PDF, or screenshot of your receipt/invoice as proof of purchase for your pre-order of The Wandering Inn: Book One, Part One and agree to the Terms and Conditions. The TWI team will review claim submissions periodically. Should your claim be validated, you will be notified of your success via email, and the TWI team will begin to communicate next steps. As there are multiple reward types, you will be contacted at different points in time to provide next steps for fulfillment or access to the rewards.

Make sure your email and files uploaded are correct, and check your spam inbox regularly. Duplicate submissions will invalidate eligibility.

How are claims counted: Claims are counted through the site automatically every 90 seconds. Counts may be adjusted manually if bots, bad actors or invalid claims get through. The team will communicate any such adjustments if they have a significant impact.

Which rewards am I eligible for?

Every valid claim is eligible for all rewards that are unlocked. Claims made before a reward is unlocked will qualify for rewards unlocked throughout the campaign.

Rewards that are limited by stock available will be made available to those who made their claims first, and follow the steps provided via email to confirm their information and provide shipping details to get their free gift with purchase. See our Terms and Conditions.

If I submit my claim early, do I still get rewards from tiers unlocked later?

Yes, you don’t need to wait until the end of the campaign to enter. All claimants are automatically eligible for any new reward tiers unlocked after their submission. The exception to this rule is rewards that are limited by stock will only be available while quantities last.

How will I know what rewards I have received?

Valid claimants will be notified via email for all reward next steps.

What is the validation process?

The TWI team will review your entry and check the following elements:

    • Is the uploaded file a valid receipt that displays the pre-order purchase of The Wandering Inn: Book One, Part One paperback book. This campaign does not include the purchase of audiobooks, eBooks or subsequent books.
    • The receipt is not a duplicate from another claim.
  • The team may invalidate any claims if they see clear attempts to make false claims multiple times. Ex: 10 claims made with the same receipt.

The review process can take up to 14 days, so please wait to hear from us.

What counts as a valid proof of purchase?

The TWI team will review your submission to ensure:

  • It is a legible receipt, invoice, or digital order confirmation clearly showing the paid pre-order purchase of The Wandering Inn: Book One, Part One paperback book from a public retailer.
  • The receipt has not already been submitted by another user.
  • The receipt displays the date of purchase, receipt or transaction number, and item details.

How will you be contacting me?

The TWI team will be contacting claimants via the email provided by you through the claim submission form. It is highly recommended to not use a burner account as you could miss important or time sensitive information.

Can I receive multiple rewards?

Yes, you can receive multiple types of rewards, but you will only be eligible for one of each reward type per valid claim. Think of the physical reward as one big bundle that gets better with every level unlocked.

What are the claim restrictions?

pirateaba would like to thank and reward as many fans as possible. Submissions are limited to one submission, or claim, per receipt. For more details see the Terms and Conditions.

Does pre-ordering No Killing Goblins, Fae and Fare, or Immortal Games qualify me for additional rewards?

Claims for this campaign can only be for The Wandering Inn Book One, Part One; there will be no additional claims awarded for other paperback books in the series, nor can you claim based only on subsequent paperback books in the series, like No Killing Goblins, Fae and Fare, or Immortal Games. Nor can claims be made for the eBook or audiobook. This is to ensure the maximum number of participants can claim a reward for their support.

Are all countries and all retailers eligible?

Mostly yes, most countries are eligible as are any legitimate retailer stocking the books. With the exception that if your country does not permit you to participate, refuses the shipment or your address is not recognized by our store team, they will not be able to ship to you. If you have not been able to order from the merch store due to such restrictions, this might affect you. See Terms and Conditions.

Do you ship physical rewards internationally?

Yes! However, please note that international shipping times vary, and tracking for deliveries will not be available. Participants are responsible for any local customs fees or import taxes. It is recommended that you research how deliveries originating from the United States are handled in your area.

Is XP allocated evenly per claim?

Unfortunately, the Grand Design is not taking queries or providing explanations for the allocation of XP, but surely you clever Earthers can figure it out.

Terms and Conditions vs FAQ?

These FAQs are meant to be informal but helpful. The Terms and Conditions always supersedes the FAQ.
