The Story Behind the Collaboration
Aleksandar Mitrovic, a skilled streetwear designer, connected with Pirateaba in 2023 with an idea: to create something more than just merchandise for The Wandering Inn—something that would stand out as a fashion line on its own. Inspired by friends, Aleks began reading the books in February 2023 to immerse himself in the world and find the design inspiration he needed. Within 1.5 years, Aleks became a dedicated fan and knew exactly how to translate the rich story and beloved characters into a meticulously designed clothing collection.
Pirateaba, known for supporting talented fans, saw the potential in Aleks’ vision. What started as a simple conversation turned into a full-blown fashion project, with Aleks leading the way in creating this high-quality, limited-edition collection for the fans.
From Concept to Reality: The Creative Process
This fashion line isn’t just another piece of merchandise. Aleks spent 9 months handpicking every detail—from the fabric wash to the stitching and cuts, overseeing the entire process to ensure each piece met the highest standards. Every part of the collection was crafted with intention and care, with The Wandering Inn fans at the forefront of his design choices.
The collection takes inspiration from the first three volumes of The Wandering Inn, with subtle nods to characters, iconic moments, and emotional themes. Each piece tells a story, just like the characters that inspired them. Aleks created oversized, unisex streetwear pieces that are designed to be comfortable yet stylish, making them perfect for everyday wear.
One example is the Pisces hoodie, which features his [Necromancer] class on the arm in metallic raised material. The crest symbolizes both the dignity and complexity of the character, a mark carried through his life. For Magnolia’s pink hoodie, Aleks collaborated with an artist to create custom art that brings to life a moody, mysterious scene. The Horns of Hammerad hoodie was designed with subtle symbols, reflecting both their early gear and their transformative journey.
Behind the Scenes: Crafting the Vision
Aleks didn’t stop at design. He had a clear vision for the photoshoot as well. The shoot took place in a UK pub, a location that mirrored the spirit of The Wandering Inn with a twist—imagine the characters transported to Earth, taking a night out in the city. Aleks directed everything, from the models to the set, carefully creating a subtle, magical atmosphere that didn’t overpower the clothes.
Four characters—Gazi, Ceria, Fierre, and Ivolethe—served as inspirations for the models, with each piece of clothing subtly reflecting their personalities and stories. “The photoshoot needed to be modern and streetwear, but still true to the essence of The Wandering Inn,” Aleks explained. “It was a challenge to communicate the depth of the story to people who didn’t know it, but in the end, we created something special.”

Aleks had to balance time zones, production schedules, and the intricacies of translating a book series into fashion. “The reading alone has taken over my life,” Aleks jokes, but he admits that diving deep into the world of The Wandering Inn was one of the most rewarding parts of the project. Working directly with the TWI team kept him motivated, and seeing the pieces come to life was the ultimate payoff.
